Sweet Jane

Sat 10pm - The Garden Stage at The Harbour Bar

Sweet Jane

Jayne Pomplas grew up in Upstate New York, immersed in Irish music there, especially in the New York Sligo tradition of playing. She became obsessed with The Cheiftains at the age of three and insisted on learning violin.

She studied traditional Irish fiddle playing from Brian Conway and Tony DeMarco, two of the USA’s greatest fiddle masters.

After completing the Suzuki program at a young age, she went onto study music in a program for talented young adults at Ithaca College, all the while delving deeper into her love of traditional Irish music, folk, blues and jazz.

She spent every summer in Ireland as a child, and moved over full time as a late teenager. She has lived all over the country, but ended up growing roots in Dublin. Jayne has spent years touring and gigging all manners and styles of gigs and music, with some of Ireland’s finest exports in all types of music, The Chieftains, Frankie Gavin, The Young Irelanders, Fin Furey and Mik Pyro of the Republic of Loose, Gaolbyrd, Bricknasty, and Patrick Stefan to name a few.

She has released five studio albums of traditional Irish music, as well as an EP of original music, and worked as a session musician to numerous recordings of original music
